ABOUT ME

I’m Antwain Turner, a photographer and visual storyteller based in Colorado. My work

explores memory, place, and identity through a blend of documentary, conceptual, and

fine-art photography. I’m drawn to moments that feel familiar yet slightly out of reach,

images that echo nostalgia while grounding the viewer in the present.

Through The Higher Fence, I approach photography as both observation and construction.

Whether working with landscapes, portraits, or narrative-driven composites, I focus on

creating images that feel intentional, cinematic, and emotionally resonant. My process

often merges traditional photographic techniques with contemporary digital tools, allowing

each project to exist somewhere between realism and imagination.

I’m currently completing my BFA in Photography at Rocky Mountain College of Art and

Design, where I continue to refine my visual language and expand my practice. This website

serves as a living archive of my ongoing work, projects shaped by curiosity, travel, and a

deep respect for storytelling through images.

san Juan valley project, 2026

This recent body of work was created in the vast and quietly powerful landscape of the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado. Known for its wide horizons, dramatic skies, and raw rural character, the valley offered a space where time feels suspended and the land tells its own story.

In this project, I focused on capturing the stillness and resilience of the high desert environment, weathered structures, open farmland, textured earth, and the way light moves across the valley floor. Shooting at golden hour and early morning allowed the natural tones to deepen, creating images that feel both nostalgic and cinematic.

The San Luis Valley holds a quiet intensity. There’s a sense of isolation, but also strength; something I wanted each frame to reflect. This series explores simplicity, atmosphere, and the beauty found in overlooked spaces. It’s about honoring the land as it is unfiltered, expansive, and grounded in history.

FALL pueblo ,co 44th annual low-rider car show 2025

This series of images were taken on film in Pueblo, this series is part of an ongoing project documenting leisure collectible cars and the communities that form around them. Car shows are more than displays of restored metal and polished chrome, they are gathering spaces. They create room for conversation, storytelling, mentorship, and shared pride, where passion for craftsmanship brings people together across generations.

Through film photography, I focus on preserving not only the cars, but the atmosphere surrounding them. These vehicles become anchors for connection, turning parking lots into spaces of belonging. This project explores how collectible cars function as cultural touchstones—objects of leisure that quietly build relationships and strengthen community bonds.
